My thoughts

The first of the books is Teardrops of Heaven which has been a while since I read it but it was such a great artistry and had everything that I like about fantasy for younger people.

The characters were strong and easily likeable which isn’t often the case.  I really like all of the characters and the story was so well designed.

In some ways this reminds me a bit of Joel Rosenberg and his Guardians of the Flame series which has a similar premise but each was so different.

The second book the velvet knife was in my opinion far better.  I love the whole academy thing and find that it drew me in quicker.

The idea if magical school is similar to Harry Potter however unlike that this book has more to offer me.  They have a wonderful tale and it was short and sweet allowing you to really gain more from the read and figure out the characters.
